Vodafone Idea Gets a New Vi Logo
Vi official

Vodafone Idea has refreshed its Vi brand identity, introducing a redesigned logo as the telecom operator prepares for a broader transformation of its services and customer experience. The new identity became effective on September 1, 2026, marking the first major visual change to the Vi brand since its introduction in 2020.

The most noticeable change is the familiar visual element associated with the Vi logo. The earlier flat particle has been redesigned as a fuller three-dimensional sphere and moved to the top of the “Vi” wordmark. The company says the updated design represents optimism, energy and the possibilities it sees for the next phase of the brand.

What has changed in the new Vi logo?

The new logo retains the core Vi identity but changes how its signature visual element is presented. Instead of the previous two-dimensional particle positioned below the letter “i”, the refreshed version uses a three-dimensional sphere positioned above the wordmark.

According to Vi, the change is intended to retain a visual element customers already associate with the brand while giving it a more dynamic and contemporary appearance.

The refreshed identity is being rolled out across Vi's digital platforms, consumer touchpoints, retail network and communications.

Shah Rukh Khan joins Vi's new campaign

Alongside the visual refresh, Vi has brought Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan on board as the face of its upcoming campaign, titled “Vi badal raha hai... tayaar rahiye”.

The campaign is positioned as a teaser for the larger transformation that Vi plans to reveal over the coming weeks. The company says the upcoming phase will include strategic launches, new campaigns and customer experiences.

Vi is preparing for a broader transformation

The logo change is not being presented by Vi as an isolated design exercise. The company describes it as the first expression of a wider evolution of the brand.

Vi is also expanding its 5G network and looking to strengthen its position as a technology and connectivity provider. The operator currently has 5G spectrum in multiple circles and is continuing its network expansion. The timing of the rebrand is significant. Vi has been working to improve its competitive position in India's telecom market while investing in network expansion and looking for additional capital to support its plans.

Vodafone Idea adopted the Vi brand in September 2020 following the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular. The latest logo update therefore comes roughly six years after the combined company moved away from the separate Vodafone and Idea consumer identities. This time, however, the company is not replacing the Vi name. Instead, it is evolving the existing identity while preparing to introduce broader changes to its products, services and customer engagement.

For customers, the logo itself does not represent a change to their existing mobile connection or tariff. It is primarily a brand identity refresh. The more significant changes are expected to come with the strategic launches and customer experiences Vi says it will introduce in the coming weeks. Until those announcements are made, the logo redesign should be viewed as the opening step of the company's broader brand transformation rather than evidence of a specific new telecom service.
